The Adirondack Fashion Workshop
Requirements
Anyone, 21 or older, from any background is welcome to apply to this retreat designed to experience fully the wild beauty of the Adirondacks and to use that energy to ignite your creative passion, to know yourself authentically and what you want, to align your purpose with direction and energy in this week mentored by a Paris-trained Designer in a vibrant, exciting art colony retreat to unplug, shift gears, reflect and move confidently forward in your life and career. Spend a week up close and personally with nature, explore various art media and learn new techniques that align to form a portfolio of fashion and textile designs and creations to further your career in the arts, the theater or your desired place in the fashion industry.
Each day
Every day will include two 2-hour design sessions exploring industry elements (textiles, accessories, apparel, drawing and painting skills, vision/detail boards), one session after breakfast, the second after lunch or dinner. Exploration at an outdoor venue: beach, fireside, harbor, moor, bluff, park, wharf, neighboring town or woods. Boxed lunch or lunch on your own in town. Prepared dinner or dinner on your own in town. Free time to take a beat, swim, canoe, hike, relax, talk and plan.
Deposits, Payments, Fees, & Refunds
The cost of the Workshop is all inclusive with our accommodation at $2350 (double occupancy), or $2500 (single occupancy), or $1250 your own with an application fee of $25.00 and a personal statement of what you wish to accomplish, what interests you most, your dream to pursue and what you will contribute to the workshop. Upon acceptance, a deposit of $500.00 will secure your place. The balance is due on a set schedule, which includes the application fee. If the Workshop is filled, or the applicant is not accepted, the application fee will be refunded. All cancellations, for any reason whatsoever, will be subject to a $100 per person cancellation fee. Transportation to and from the Park is the participant’s responsibility; you are invited to work with our travel partner. Trip cancellation insurance is strongly advised. Transportation is provided to and from the nearby airports or boat docks to the hotel with six (6) nights of accomodation (single or double occupancy). Included in the Workshop price
All necessary materials and tools for the Workshop to complete a presentaion portfolio of your unique designs for interviews. Two 2-hour design sessions each day. Daily fashion, museum or gallery tours, network with artists and artisans. One hour-long exploration session per day. All transportation is included with plenty of free time to reflect, connect, explore and socialize at the venue. 6 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners and 5 cocktail hours. Transportation for all instruction, entertainment and lecture fees when with the group are included as well as any local Historical Association membership passes .
